Analysis

1) CD Cover - Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
Fitness for purpose
This album cover
is fit
for purpose.
The image clearly relates to the album title,
bat out of hell. The album cover is interesting, therefore grabbing the attention of the potential buyers. The album name is the first track on the CD. 'Bat out of hell' could be Meat Loaf's most famous song. The image shows well the bat in hell.

Target Audience
The target audience are Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman Fans as well as trying to attract new listeners. The music will also appeal to people that like classic rock music. The age group for this album will probably be teenage upwards. The album art may attract anyone interested in Hell, Bats, Motorbikes or graves.
Content
The image of the album cover shows an illustration of the album title, bat out of hell. The image shows a large scary looking bat, which has its wings spread out, is standing on a podium overlooking a grave yard. The red sky and grave stones gives the artists
impression of hell. The man on the bike is mentioned in the song. These features (the bat, the man in the bike, the scary looking scenery) appears in all 3 of the bat out of hell album covers.
The text in the album cover is in the colour white. This stands out easily in against the red background of the sky. The artists name Meat Loaf is written in bold type. Meat Loaf is written in a Gothic, medieval font, where as the other text is written in an plain easy to read font. All text is written in capital letters.

Format
The album cover size is the standard 120 x 120 mm. It is printed on good quality glossy paper.

Design and Layout
The main feature of the album cover is the image. The action in the image takes up the bottom 3/4 of the album cover allowing text to be written in the top quarter. The 3 lines of text are the same with making it look professional.


2) Poster - School of Rock
Fitness for purpose
The poster is fit for purpose because it successfully promotes the film. The first thing you see when looking at the poster is the main character, Jack Black, who is dressed in a stereotypical school teacher, but standing in a rock position, with a guitar and and his fingers in the air. The poster also has the children dressed in their rocked up school uniforms. All this makes the potential viewer want to find out more.

Target Audience
This poster is aimed at the target audience of teenagers plus. It appeals to fans of Jack Black as well as Rock fans. The film will appeal to Jack Black fans as the main character is Jack Black. The film is a typical Jack Black film - it has plenty of Music, Guitars and Rock. Teenage rock fans could relate to this film as it is about ‘school’ and ‘rock’. The film spends a lot of time in a the classroom teaching about rock music.

Content
This poster directly shows the main character, Jack Black, on the cover. It shows the kids behind him who are standing in rock positions with their instruments.
Above the title is the words ‘we don’t need no education’, which is a play on the Pink Floyd song, 'Another Brick In The Wall'. Also at the bottom it says ‘Take notes. Coming soon’. There are two ways of interpreting ‘take notes’; one being written notes in the classroom, and the other being musical notes.
The film title, School of Rock, is in a bold Gothic font. This relates well to the rock feel, the film has. The text 'We Don't Need No Education' and 'Take Notes, Coming Soon' are written in capital letters in a bold, easy to read type face.
The poster has a white background so that any colour on it will easily stand out.

Format
This poster would be printed in the standard poster size of 27"x41". This size is standard as it is made to fit in the poster boxes that are found in places such as bus stops.

Design and Layout
The picture of Jack Black is in front of everything else making him stand out as the main character. The pictures of the children are behind him to each side. Each side has four children. The images of Jack Black and the kids are on the lower 3/4 of the page, so there is space at the top for the title and slogans. The film information is shaped following Jack Blacks open legs.


3) Web page - Google


Fitness for purpose
Google is an Internet search engine. It is fit for purpose in many ways. The first thing you see on the webpage is the google logo. This attracts the user with its easy to read font and different coloured letters. It has a search box which allows the user to type in their search criteria. There is the option to search sites either from the UK or the whole web. It has a simple white background which shows the simpleness and user friendliness of the site. It has two buttons to click on, one shows
all the search results, the other takes you straight to the page of the most relevant search result. The
web page has very little on it. This is partly because of the simpleness factor of it, but also so that it loads quickly. It has very little text and hardly any pictures. The results page also has
no pictures for quick and easily loading. The logo has also ben customised so that each letter is in a different colour. This makes the webpage appeal to the user.

Target Audience
Google’s target audience is every
one that used the internet. It appeals to anyone who would like to find somthing on the internet. This is from
inexperienced occasional user, to the highly experienced web user. Many websites have a search box run by google so that people can easily search their website for things.

Content

The background of the webpage is plain white. This is good as it is easy, simple and quick to load. There is very little text but the text that is there is written in black, with links in blue. These are default for most webpages. This is all so google is easy to use and quick to load. Google's logo is fun and interesting with each letter a different colour. Google sometimes changes the logo to things that are of relevance to a particular day (eg. Rememberence Day)

Format
The webpage is very simple. The size of the webpage is very small so it can be viewed on most computers. The background is white, the text is black and the links are blue. This is the default for most webpages.


4) Double Page Spread

This double page spread is fit for
purpose because the first thing the reader sees is the background which is one picture, The picture shows what the article is about; In this case it shows the convertible section of the new
Bugatti. Also in the picture is mountain scenery in which the sun is setting. The title is written in large text and is in two colours to attract the readers attention, and underneath is a small discription of the article.The text is written in black on a yellow background which makes it easy to read. This page works because it makes the reader want to read on.

Target Audience
The target audience of this double page spread could be two types of people. The majority of the readers would be reading it will just be interested in the car. The other type would be people who may actually buy the car and want to know what it is like. The target audience for this article is very broad as the interest in cars (especially the fastest car in the world) appeals to a wide range of ages.

Content
The image of the Veyron without its roof is the background image. There title ‘Open to ridicule’ is writen in large capital letters in two different colours. This grabs the readers attention. Underneath the titile is the caption which tells the reader what the article is about. The article text is writen in three columns, although only one is shown on this page, which provides a nice size introdution to encourage the reader to read on. The text is black with a yellow background.

Design and Layout
In the top left corner it says the car that each article is about; this is written in capitals.
The image takes up the whole background and the text is written above it. The title is written in capital letters, and is written in two colours. The font used is like a stencil.

Format
The size of the double page spread is 44x58 cm. The paper quality in the magazine is good quality.
